Bicycle Rental - Terms and Conditions
These rental conditions aim to clarify the risks and responsibilities for you and us when booking and undertaking a cycling tour. Wherever used herein the term “equipment” shall include any equipment rented from Siesta Advisor Javea.
Safe cycling is dependent on the cyclist` alertness and his/her good judgement. Please cycle sensibly, with respect for others and the natural habitat.
Siesta Advisor Javea reserves the right to refuse renting bicycles to those with insufficient knowledge or ability for their own protection and safety and/or if a client is unsuitable due to age, size, ill health or poor fitness.
2. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
All members of the cycling group must be competent cyclists and proficient enough to cycle on various roads. They need to recognise that they will be riding cycles which they might not be familiar with and as such they have to exercise additional care and attention.
Siesta Advisor Javea lends cycles on the understanding that every cyclist can use gears properly, adjust the saddle height and at least one person knows how to fix a puncture.
Participants in our rental program are required:
- To wear the safety helmet provided at all times while cycling
- To understand road conditions and the risks involved in cycling
- To understand the bike and how to use the safety equipment
- To not undertake a manoeuvre which is beyond their level of skill
- To place and lock all equipment in a safe place when stopping
- To pay close attention to avoid collisions with other cyclist, and other users of the road
- To pay close attention to other dangerous situations such as sudden change on the road surface, slippery road etc.
- To not ride or use rental equipment in any water (sea, lake, river)
- To not change or substitute any parts on the bike
- To not clean the bike before returning it
- To not ride on trails that is closed or trespass on posted land
- Not being under influence of alcohol or drugs during cycling
3. BOOKINGS AND PAYMENTS
We will accept and hold unconfirmed reservation for a limited period of time. Your booking will not be confirmed until we receive your completed Booking Form and deposit or full payment. The deposit (50% of total cost) must be paid within 4 working days of returning the completed form in order to secure the dates. Reservations may expire if a deposit is not received by that date. Full payment is due 12 weeks prior to your tour date.
4. RATES * IVA inclusive
Equipment delivered to your accommodation or the previously agreed destination daily at 10am on the first day and collected 6pm on the last day of the rental period. No refunds will be made due to bike returned early or for equipment hired but not used.
Bicycle hire includes the selected bike, a helmet, a lock and a water bottle per person. The followings are provided per groups: repair kit, spare tubes, bike pump and maps. Gloves and road cycling clothes (padded short, jersey top) are available to hire.
In the event of a mechanical failure other than punctures, Siesta Advisor Javea will offer breakdown service for the cyclist and the bike. The telephone number is on the front of the Booking Form.
5. SUBLEASING PROHIBITED
Customer understands and agrees that any subleasing or re-letting of rental equipment is prohibited and that any such sublease or re-letting shall immediately cause termination and cancellation of this contract.
6. LATE FEES
Equipment returned late will incur a charge of € 10 per hour when returned after the agreed upon return time/date unless otherwise arranged with Siesta Advisor Javea.
7. CUSTOMER LIABILITY
Customer shall assume liability for any and all damage or loss to personal property, accident or injury to other persons related to the rental equipment.
8. SECURITY DEPOSIT
Credit card details and a photocopy of the hirers licence are required as security and will be returned at the completion of the hire. If the customer prefers not to leave his/her passport and/or credit card details, Siesta Advisor Javea will accept cash deposit of € 200 per cruiser bike, € 350 per mountain bike and € 500 per road bike. The deposit will be refunded if the rented equipment is returned in the same conditions it was procured.
We ask you to respect our sport equipment while it is in your possession. The bikes must be treated with care. Please return all equipment in good condition and report any problems you had, damage caused and/or any repairs needed.
Customer will be responsible for the payment of any damage (Inc. third party) caused as a consequence of any dangerous cycling, loss of control, negligence or loss of equipment if the cycles are not locked to a fixed object through the frame and front wheel. Siesta Advisor Javea reserves the sole right to determine the condition returned.
Customer is obliged to padlocking and tying up the bicycle (pass the bike lock trough the frame and tie it up to a post fixed to the ground or a bike parking rack). It is recommended to keep your bike with you and within sight when possible. In the case of theft or loss of the material, the client must pay for it to Siesta Advisor Javea, according to market price.

7. CANCELLATION POLICY
We understand you may need to change your rentals, possibly at short notice and we may need to change our rental due to safety reasons or comfort.
Fares will not be refunded for short notice cancellation or if clients miss their bike pick up time due to late arrival. Please tell us if it becomes necessary to cancel your booking.
The following cancellation fees may apply:
- Less than 14 days prior to date – 100% rental cost charged
- 15-30 days prior to date – 50% of rental cost charged
- More than 30 days – rental cost fully refunded
