Mirador Cap Negre is one of Javea’s 15 miradors and forms a part of the “Ruta de los Miradores”. It is located on the eastern coastline of Javea, overlooking Cala Portixol, Portixol Island, Cap Prim and even Cabo de San Antonio.

It offers a stunning panoramic view of the Mediterranean Sea and the coastline of Javea. The viewpoint is located on top of a hill, and it takes a short walk to reach mirador cap negre, but the effort is well worth it. The view from the top is truly breathtaking, with the Mediterranean sea glistening in the distance and the rocky cliffs of the coastline.

The name Cap Negre originally comes from the Spanish Valencia dialect, meaning “Cabo Negro” in Castellano, or black cape in English. It gets its name from enormous black patches on the rockface provokes by natural erosion and dilapidation, attesting to all the geological phenome that occur there. Here’s a photo from the sea!

It is also used to be a very famous spot for local fishermen, where they would descend all the way to the sea (often through very dangerous climbs) in order to fish at some of the most pristine and life-abundant waters in Javea!

Mirador Cap Negre is located on the eastern coastline of Javea, in the province of Alicante, Spain. More specifically, it is located at the end of Calle Benjamín Britten, just off the Carrer Cap Negre road. It is a 10 minute drive from central javea, and can easily be located by typing “Calle Benjamín Britten, Javea” into your GPS.

Parking at Mirador Cap Negre can be found directly at the entrance of the path leading to the mirador on Calle Benjamín Britten. There is sufficient roadside parking there for more than a dozen cars, so you never have to worry about parking!

Accessing Mirador Cap Negre

As we briefly mentioned, getting to mirador Cap Negre once you have parked at Calle Benjamín Britten takes a very short walk on a gravelly path. The path is no longer than 200 meters, after which you are met with a bench overlooking Javea’s incredible coastline. It is easily accessible even for family with little children.

Secret Mirador near Cap Negre

I hesitated for a while to share this little local secret with everybody reading this, but in the end, I decided it would be selfish of me to keep something so special a secret.

Javea has another secret Mirador, just next door to mirador Cap Negre and also Mirador la Falzia. It isn’t officially labelled as a mirador, and I am very happy about this as it means that only a very few people know about it. It can be found at the end of Calle Joaquín Rodrigo, at the end of a short forestall path. Here is what an incredible sight to expect:

These rocks are home to a tremendous amount of marine life, making Cala el Pom a paradise for snorkelers. It is also completely inaccessible by land, so if you’re craving an exotic adventure, this is serene beach is for you.
